The experience

A day at the anvil, and a knife to take home

You arrive in the morning to a workshop that is already warm. Fredrik walks you through what happens and why, and then you start working. Nobody stands and watches - the steel is yours from the first heat.

It is physical work and it is meant to be. Most people have never held a hammer over hot steel before, and that is the point: by the afternoon you understand what a knife actually is, because you made one.

Questions people ask first

Do I need any experience?

No. Most people who come have never worked hot steel before. The day is built around that.

What should I wear?

Closed shoes and natural fibres. Cotton rather than synthetics, since sparks are part of the day. Leave anything you would be sad to burn at home.

Will the knife actually be usable?

Yes. It is heat treated properly and finished before you leave. It is your knife, made by you, and it will cut.

Can we come as a group or a company?

Yes. Get in touch and describe the group and roughly when, and Fredrik will say what is possible.
